Question: What are some effective techniques you implement to mitigate stress when you’re grappling with overwhelming situations?

Speaking Transcript

When confronted with high-stress situations, I have a set of strategies that I deploy to help mitigate the feeling of being overwhelmed. My first course of action is often to engage in a pastime that I find particularly engrossing, such as delving into a compelling book or losing myself in a riveting television series. This serves as a distraction, allowing me to shift my focus away from my current stressors. Occasionally, I find solace in going for a vigorous walk outdoors. Immersing myself in nature and participating in physical activity can have a significant positive impact on my mood. If these strategies fail to quell my anxiety, I find it helpful to communicate with a confidant, be it a friend or family member. It’s crucial to acknowledge that stress is a common experience, and seeking assistance and support when needed is not only okay, but healthy.
